Before I go into some issues that surrounded this election, I would like to reflect on this historic election. This election is unlike any election we have lived to see. On November 4, change happened when Barack Obama was elected president of these United States. I can't describe how I felt when he won! The debates and everything that went on were good and although I would've voted as a Democrat for Obama, if I could, I felt the candidates both had valid ideas. It's amazing for me to see this change in the world, and not only because he's the first black president, but because he has a lot of strong qualifications that make him right for the job. I think he will help this country turn back around. Yes I know there is a lot of work to be done but I believe he has what it takes to make that happen! I'm proud to say I lived to see this historical election take place and the experience was awesome. Also the new voters (primarily youth), helped tremendously with the outcome of this election. His ability to reach out to everyone and to get the votes he did was great!
The use of technology, such as Internet sites, helped people to determine who they were voting for. SNL (Saturday Night Live) had a big impact on the election of the next president. It made jokes about the election, but it also took the serious edge off and tried to make it humorous by interpreting what the candidates really meant. It helped people look at a different way and I think what they did really helped with the decision. Aside from the TV showings, youtube helped to show everyone all over the clippings of it, in case you missed it or wanted to replay it.
The Civil Rights Movement was something of huge importance and this 2008 election reflects the struggle and hardwork they went through to get to this point now. Martin Luther King Jr., as many others, would be proud to see the accomplishments this country has made over the years. The speech MLK Jr. gave about seeing a future where everyone of all colors come together is reflected not only in everyday life for the most part, but also in the fact that blacks AND whites AND people of other ethnicities voted for Obama not on the color of his skin but the "content of his character". The fact we have made it this far and continue to grow is astounding.

I think its interesting that you discussed the Civil Rights movement, you're the first person so far that I have seen to have done that. America has definitely come a long way since Martin Luther King and by Barrack Obama becoming President I think that really shows a lot of growth. I also hope that because of this there will no longer be much issues with race or background. Everyone will judge based on character and who a person really is inside.
I agree with you how the Civil Rights Movement impacted this election. It is so wonderful seeing how our country transformed into a country where the color of your skin does not matter, the character is whats more important. Now what matters most is whats inside and how much one can offer to our country.
